Honoring Black History in Islam

From the very foundation of Islam, diversity and equality have been core values upheld by the community. To truly understand Black history within an Islamic context, it is essential to look at the remarkable figures who helped shape the faith and society.

These famous Black Muslims were beloved by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) himself: Bilal Ibn Rabah, Umme Ayman, Amr Ibn Yassir, and Mihja (Radi Allahu `anhum). Figures like Bilal Ibn Rabah demonstrated unwavering steadfastness through immense hardship, becoming one of the most trusted companions. Similarly, Umme Ayman held a cherished place in the Prophet's household, and individuals like Amr Ibn Yassir and Mihja made profound sacrifices for the early Muslim community.

They all had a tremendous impact on our Muslim community as we stand for equality and character. Their legacies remind us that Islam transcends racial and ethnic boundaries, emphasizing piety and righteousness above all else.
