Can I leave a bad Google review anonymously?

Can You Leave an Anonymous Google Review?

If you have ever had a terrible customer experience, you might want to share your feedback online without having your friends, family, or the business owner track it back to your real identity. The good news is that yes, you can leave a Google review anonymously by changing how your personal information appears to the public.

Google does not let you post a review into thin air with zero account attached, but it gives you complete control over your public persona. As of November 2025, you can easily create a custom display name and profile picture specifically for your Google profile. This means that when you blast a local restaurant or praise a helpful shop, your review will show up under a sleek alias rather than your legal name.

To do this, you simply need to head into your Google Account settings, navigate to your personal info, and update your profile name and photo. Keep in mind that while this keeps your identity hidden from regular users and businesses, Google's backend systems still know who you are. This setup protects your privacy while keeping online feedback accountable and reducing spam. So, next time you need to drop an honest critique, you can do it safely and anonymously with just a quick profile tweak.
