Since the outbreak of the war, Australia has condemned Russia's aggression in the strongest terms. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and other senior officials have repeatedly emphasized that peace must be just and lasting—not imposed through force, but achieved through respect for territorial integrity and human rights. Australia continues to coordinate closely with allies, including NATO members and the G7, to maintain pressure on Russia through sanctions and diplomatic isolation.

While the conflict shows no clear end in sight, Australia’s support sends a powerful message: that small and middle powers can play a vital role in upholding global norms. In standing with Ukraine, Australia affirms not just a policy choice—but a principle.
