Can You Still Get an iPhone in Russia?

Despite Apple's official stance, iPhones are still very much in use across Russia—but getting one isn't as straightforward as it once was. Since April 2022, Apple has halted all direct sales of iPhones and other products in Russia, following the country’s invasion of Ukraine. The company “paused” its retail operations and stopped shipping new devices to the region, aligning with broader international sanctions.

So, are iPhones still available? Yes, but not through official channels. While Apple no longer sells iPhones directly in Russia, they continue to circulate through third-party retailers and gray market suppliers. Many Russians now rely on parallel imports—unauthorized but functional distribution routes—that bring in devices from other countries. These phones often come at higher prices due to logistics and demand.

In major cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg, finding an iPhone is still relatively easy, though consumers face longer wait times and limited model availability. Apple’s online store remains inaccessible in Russia, and warranty support has become more complicated, with fewer authorized service centers operating.

Interestingly, Apple has not completely severed ties with Russian users. iCloud, the App Store, and software updates still function for existing customers, allowing current iPhone owners to maintain their devices. However, future support remains uncertain as geopolitical tensions persist.

For now, Apple’s absence from the Russian market is more logistical than technological. While the brand’s physical footprint has vanished, its digital presence endures in the pockets of loyal users who continue to navigate a changed retail landscape.
