Does water always eventually evaporate?

Yes, water is constantly on the move, and given enough time and exposure to air, it will always eventually evaporate. This fascinating cycle happens because molecules at the surface of liquid water gain enough energy from their surroundings to break free and turn into invisible gas, known as water vapor.

The rate at which this happens depends heavily on temperature. The warmer the water and the surrounding air, the faster it evaporates, because heat gives the molecules more energy to escape. On the other hand, cooler conditions slow the process down significantly, but they do not stop it completely.

When water is heated to its boiling point on a heat source, the transformation changes names and intensity. Instead of just evaporating slowly from the surface, it rapidly vaporizes, creating bubbles of gas throughout the liquid.

You might sometimes wonder what happens right after water turns into vapor. Interestingly, condensation happens when water evaporates briefly and condenses again very quickly. Because of this sudden shift, tiny droplets of liquid water form and rise up into the air, creating the visible steam or mist that we can easily see with our own eyes.
