How Is a PDA Treated in Babies?

When a baby is diagnosed with a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), a condition where a blood vessel that should close shortly after birth remains open, doctors have several treatment options depending on the severity and symptoms. In many cases, especially with premature infants, the first approach is medication. Drugs like ibuprofen or indomethacin can help close the PDA by influencing the baby’s natural physiology, often avoiding more invasive methods.
