Despite the post-2020 uptick in total diagnoses, the official death rate has remained steady at 0.2 per 100,000 population. This stability suggests that while exposure and infection rates fluctuate, early detection and effective course-of-treatment regimens continue to prevent the vast majority of cases from becoming fatal.
