Each soldier receives standard identification tags accompanied by two distinct chains. The primary setup includes one 2.5 mm, 24-inch neck chain designed to keep the main tag resting securely against the chest at all times. In addition to this, service members are issued a smaller 2.5 mm, 4-inch duplicate chain attached to a secondary tag.

This dual system serves a vital logistical and identification purpose. The primary tag and long chain remain with the soldier continuously.
