Peroxyacetic acid (PAA), also known as peracetic acid, is gaining attention as a powerful, eco-friendly disinfectant used in water treatment, food processing, and healthcare settings. One of its biggest advantages? It breaks down quickly into harmless byproducts—primarily acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and water—without forming harmful disinfection byproducts (DBPs), which makes it safer for both people and the environment.

When it comes to shelf life, PAA stands out significantly compared to traditional disinfectants. While sodium hypochlorite—commonly known as bleach—starts degrading within weeks and typically lasts only about 90 days, PAA remains effective much longer.
