How Often Does a Guy Text If He Likes You?
There’s no universal rule for how often a guy should text if he likes you—every guy is different. Some are naturally chatty and might send a few messages a day just to check in, while others are more reserved, even when interested. But as a general sign of interest, receiving three to five texts a day is a pretty good indicator he’s thinking about you.
What matters more than the number, though, is the quality and consistency of the messages. Does he reach out just to say “hey,” or does he ask how your day went, remember the little things you mentioned, or keep conversations going? Those are the subtle cues that signal real interest.
If you start a conversation and he responds with effort—asking questions, sharing thoughts, or even sending a string of messages—it’s usually a strong sign he’s into you. On the flip side, if the texts are few, one-word replies, or always end with you carrying the conversation, he might not be as invested.Keep in mind, though, that texting habits depend on lifestyle, personality, and even job demands. A guy who’s busy with work might not text all day but still makes time to say goodnight or follow up on something you talked about earlier.
Instead of counting messages, focus on the energy behind them. Consistent effort, genuine curiosity, and a willingness to engage mean more than frequency alone. If he’s making you feel seen and included—even through text—that’s usually a solid sign he likes you.
