How Old Is Helium? Older Than You Think
Helium has been around since the dawn of time—literally. This familiar gas, the one that makes balloons float and voices squeak, traces its origins back to the first moments after the Big Bang, over 13 billion years ago. What’s fascinating is that once we use helium, it’s essentially gone. Unlike other resources, it doesn’t recycle back into the planet. This makes conservation crucial. Though it feels like a whimsical element, helium plays a vital role in modern science and cooling superconducting magnets in medical imaging.
