How to Permanently Wipe Your Search History
Keeping your digital footprint clean is a great way to maintain your privacy online. If you are using Google Chrome on your computer, clearing out your past searches and browsing data only takes a few quick steps.
To get started, open Chrome on your desktop or laptop. Next, click on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner to open the menu, go to history, and select the option to clear browsing data. Alternatively, you can use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Delete on Windows or Cmd+Shift+Delete on Mac to open this window directly.
Once the panel appears, you will see a dropdown menu where you can choose the time range for the data you want to remove. If your goal is a total reset, select All time. You can also choose specific types of data to wipe, such as your browsing history, cookies, and cached images or files.
After making your selection, click the Clear data button. Chrome will then permanently erase that information from your device. Keep in mind that while this removes data locally from your browser, if you are signed into a Google Account, some activity might still be saved in your Google My Activity dashboard, which you can manage separately if you want a complete wipe.
