How Evaporation Cools the Body

Evaporation, the process by which liquid turns into vapor, is fundamentally a cooling process. As sweat forms on your skin, it absorbs heat from your body to transform from liquid into vapor. This phase change requires energy, which comes in the form of thermal energy—your body heat.
