Who Is Inosuke’s Father — And What Role Does Doma Play?

Despite what some fans might assume, Doma is not Inosuke Hashibira’s father. In fact, the truth is far darker. Doma is a powerful demon — specifically, Upper Rank Two of the Twelve Kizuki — and the very being responsible for the death of Inosuke’s mother, Kotoha Hashibira.

Kotoha, fleeing persecution after being ostracized by society, sought shelter in a remote temple, unaware it was under Doma’s control. The demon, posing as a benevolent figure, welcomed her in. But his kindness was a façade. When Kotoha discovered his true nature, Doma killed her without hesitation. This act not only sealed her tragic fate but also cast Inosuke into a life of hardship from infancy.

As for Inosuke’s actual father, his identity remains unknown in the series. After Kotoha’s death, Inosuke was raised by boars in the mountains, developing his wild instincts and fierce survival skills. His journey to discover strength, identity, and belonging forms a core part of his arc in Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Doma’s role is not one of paternal connection but of tragic antagonist. His cruelty contrasts sharply with the rugged love Kotoha showed her son, even in absence. While Inosuke carries her last words with him — a message of love and resilience — Doma represents the very evil the Demon Slayer Corps fights to eradicate.
