In Islamic jurisprudence, particularly within the Sunni tradition, questions about intimacy are often approached with careful reference to religious texts and scholarly interpretation. One such question is whether swallowing sperm is considered haram (prohibited). According to classical Islamic sources, including Al-Majmoo', a respected work in the Shafi'i school of thought, there are differing opinions among scholars on this matter.

Some scholars have acknowledged that there are two historical viewpoints: one permitting it under certain conditions, and another strictly forbidding it. However, the dominant and most widely accepted opinion, especially in more conservative schools of thought, is that it is forbidden. The reasoning behind this prohibition lies in the concept of khabaa'ith—things considered unclean or morally repulsive. The Quran states: "He permits for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil (khabaa’ith)" (7:157), a verse often cited to support the idea that anything deemed filthy should be avoided.

Since semen is traditionally viewed in many classical texts as ritually impure (najis) by some scholars, ingesting it falls under the category of consuming something unclean. This perspective is reinforced by hygienic, spiritual, and moral considerations that shape Islamic rulings on bodily fluids and intimate conduct.

While opinions may vary slightly across different schools of thought, the majority stance within Sunni Islam leans toward prohibition based on purity and religious caution.
