Is McKinsey Bigger Than PwC?
When comparing the size of top-tier consulting firms, the answer depends entirely on whether you measure by global revenue or prestige. If you look purely at the financial scale, PwC is vastly larger than McKinsey. As part of the Big 4 accounting and professional services networks—alongside Deloitte, EY, and KPMG—PwC pulls in a massive share of the market. Combined, the Big 4 generated over $220 billion in FY2025 across diverse service lines including audit, tax, and advisory work.
On the other hand, McKinsey operates in a different league when it comes to elite management consulting exclusivity. Along with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Bain & Company, McKinsey makes up the prestigious group known as MBB. Together, these three elite strategy firms boast a combined annual revenue nearing $40 billion. While this figure is a fraction of the Big 4's total earnings, MBB firms maintain an intensely competitive edge, typically seeing hyper-selective offer rates of around 1%.
Ultimately, PwC dominates in sheer employee headcount, global footprint, and multi-service revenue, whereas McKinsey remains the smaller, highly specialized giant of high-stakes corporate strategy.
