In the garage, that tube of epoxy glue holding broken parts together is a polymer adhesive strong enough to replace welds in some applications. Even the paint on your walls is often polymer-based, giving it better adhesion and weather resistance.

And it’s not just household items. Medical advancements lean heavily on polymers too. Silicone heart valves and other implants showcase how these materials can be both biocompatible and long-lasting. Even tiny components like nylon bearings in appliances quietly keep things running smoothly.

Then there are the less glamorous but ever-present uses—like plastic bags, often made from polyethylene. While their environmental impact is a growing concern, they underscore just how widespread and versatile polymers have become.
