Researchers are now focusing on new strategies, from specialized enzymes to disrupt the biofilm matrix to novel drug delivery systems that can penetrate these microbial fortresses.
Understanding biofilm is key to fighting persistent infections. As science uncovers more about how these bacterial colonies operate, better treatments will follow. But for now, recognizing their role in chronic illness is a crucial step toward smarter, more effective care.
