Understanding Total Defence

Total Defence is a comprehensive national security framework designed to keep a country resilient against both military and non-military threats. At the heart of this strategy is a familiar emblem featuring six distinct arrows, which together form the visual identity of the movement.

Each of these arrows corresponds to a core component of national readiness. Military Defence and Civil Defence form the traditional backbone of protecting physical borders and ensuring public safety during emergencies. Meanwhile, Economic Defence and Social Defence focus on financial stability, community cohesion, and standing united across different backgrounds.

In modern times, the framework has expanded to address contemporary challenges through Digital Defence, which tackles cybersecurity and online falsehoods, alongside Psychological Defence, which anchors the mental resilience and national pride of the population. Together, these six pillars show that safeguarding a nation relies on the everyday actions of everyone.
