The Impact of Temperature on Evaporation
When you heat things up, things start moving. At the heart of evaporation is particle motion, and the kinetic energy of the particles will increase as the thermal energy goes up. Temperature is essentially a measure of how fast these tiny building blocks are jiggling and zooming around.
In a liquid or solid, particles are held together by intermolecular forces. When you raise the temperature, you give those particles a surge of energy. This extra kick makes them vibrate and move much more vigorously. In a liquid, that means particles near the surface gain enough speed to break free from their neighbors and escape into the air as gas.
That is why puddles dry up faster on a hot summer day than on a chilly morning. Higher temperatures mean higher kinetic energy, leading directly to a faster rate of evaporation.
