Understanding 0000 in Military Time

If you have ever wondered what 0000 means on a military schedule, it simply represents the start of a brand new day. In the standard 12-hour system we use every day, this exact moment is known as midnight.

Unlike civilian time, which resets from PM to AM halfway through the day, military time relies on a continuous 24-hour clock. The day begins at 0000, is pronounced "zero hundred hours," and counts straight up through the hours until it reaches 2359 just before the next midnight rolls around.
