C5, C6, and C7 are spinal nerves that exit the spinal cord at different levels between the vertebrae in your neck. Each one plays a distinct role in how you move and feel in your upper body.C5 is responsible for sensation along the upper arm, typically down to the elbow. It also helps control shoulder movement. Damage at this level can weaken the deltoid and biceps muscles, making lifting your arm difficult.
C6 is a key player in wrist extension and elbow flexion. It powers the biceps and helps you bend your elbow and lift your wrist. Sensation from C6 travels down the thumb side of your forearm and hand.
