What is Evaporation?
Have you ever noticed how a puddle on the sidewalk slowly disappears on a warm afternoon? That everyday magic is called evaporation. In very simple words, it is the process where a liquid—usually water—turns into a gas, known as water vapor, and floats up into the air.
This happens because tiny particles in the liquid get energy, often from the sun's warmth, causing them to move faster and break free from the surface. You can picture it as water molecules sneaking away one by one to join the atmosphere.
This invisible action is actually a big deal for our planet. Evaporation is one of the three main steps in the global water cycle, working right alongside condensation and precipitation to keep Earth's water moving endlessly around the globe.
