Healing and moving forward: Exercise after prostate surgery
Recovering from prostate surgery is a journey that requires a delicate balance of patience and gentle movement. While your body needs ample time to heal, staying entirely inactive can actually slow down your recovery process. The key is to listen to your body and find a sustainable rhythm that combines physical activity with plenty of rest.
By far, walking is the single best exercise you can do during the initial stages of rehabilitation. It is low-impact, incredibly effective for getting your circulation going, and doesn't put undue stress on your healing pelvic region. Plus, taking a stroll is a wonderful excuse to step outside, fresh air in your lungs, and reconnect with your neighborhood.
As your strength naturally returns and your body adjusts, you can slowly introduce other light activities—always keeping your doctor's personalized guidance front and center. Never rush the process; every small step forward is a victory in your recovery.
