Electrical Conductivity of Polyacrylonitrile
Polyacrylonitrile is widely recognized in its standard form as an effective electrical insulator. In its initial powder state, it exhibits a very low electrical conductivity typically measured at less than 10–10 S cm−1, which prevents electrical current from passing through it easily.
Research shows that this insulating property remains entirely stable even when the material undergoes specific processing treatments. For instance, subjecting polyacrylonitrile powder to microwave treatments ranging between 90 °C and 210 °C does not alter its fundamental nature; it continues to function reliably as an insulator.
