The Greedy King and the Golden Touch
Long ago, in a faraway kingdom, there ruled a king who was obsessed with gold. More than justice, more than love, he desired wealth. He believed that abundance would bring him happiness. One day, dissatisfied with the slow pace of riches, he called upon a divine being and begged for a gift—the power to turn everything he touched into gold.
The god granted his wish—but with a warning. At first, the king danced through his palace, turning vases, books, and even flowers into shimmering gold. His heart swelled with pride. But soon, hunger struck. He reached for a loaf of bread, and as his fingers brushed it, the food turned into cold, inedible metal. Panic began to rise.
Then came the final blow. His beloved daughter, the light of his life, ran to him, arms open for a hug. Without thinking, he embraced her. In an instant, she transformed into a golden statue—beautiful, silent, and lifeless.
In that moment, the weight of his greed crushed him.He fell to his knees, weeping, begging the god to take back the cursed gift. His voice trembled with regret. “I would trade all the gold in the world,” he sobbed, “to hold my daughter once more.” The god, moved by his sorrow, lifted the spell. The girl returned to life, warm and breathing, and the golden curse vanished.
The king, forever changed, ruled with wisdom and humility from that day on. He learned that true wealth isn’t measured in coins, but in love, family, and the quiet dignity of honest labor.
The moral? Greed blinds, but love redeems. Shortcut to riches leads only to loss. True value comes not from what we grab, but from what we cherish.
