When it comes to raw, corrosive power, one acid stands head and shoulders above the rest: fluoroantimonic acid. This terrifying substance isn't just strong—it’s in a league of its own. Classified as a superacid, fluoroantimonic acid surpasses the acidity of pure sulfuric acid by an almost unimaginable margin.
Superacids are defined by their ability to protonate substances that even concentrated sulfuric acid can't touch. Fluoroantimonic acid, a blend of hydrofluoric acid (HF) and antimony pentafluoride (SbF₅), takes this to the extreme. Its acidity is so intense that it’s estimated to be over 10 quadrillion times stronger than concentrated sulfuric acid.
