Understanding Military Time
When switching over to military time, telling the hour of the day becomes a straightforward process without needing to worry about AM and PM indicators. The system runs continuously from midnight, starting at 0000, all the way through the day until 2359 just before the next day begins.
For instance, if you want to know what 9:20 looks like in this format, you have to look at it as 9:20 in the evening. Since the evening hours require you to add 12 hours to standard afternoon or night times, 9:20 p.m. transitions cleanly into 2120.
Using this four-digit continuous sequence helps prevent any confusion between morning hours and evening hours, which is why organizations like the military, emergency services, and aviation fields rely on it globally.
