How Water Evaporates Faster

Have you ever noticed how a puddle on the pavement disappears much quicker on a hot summer afternoon than on a chilly autumn morning? Heat is one of the biggest driving forces behind evaporation. When water molecules absorb thermal energy, they move faster and break away into the air much more easily.

Temperature is only part of the story. Surface area plays a massive role too. If you spill a glass of water on the kitchen counter, it stays in a deep puddle and takes a while to dry.
