Tesla Lithium Plant Location
Tesla's state-of-the-art lithium refinery is situated in Robstown, Texas, just outside of Corpus Christi. Officially breaking ground in May 2023, the massive 1,200-plus-acre facility was built to spearhead a cleaner, more sustainable approach to battery material production.
A New Approach to Refining
The Texas facility marks the first large-scale industrial deployment of an innovative, acid-free lithium refining route. Unlike traditional methods that rely heavily on harsh chemicals and generate hazardous waste, Tesla's process transforms raw spodumene ore directly into battery-grade lithium hydroxide while producing eco-friendly co-products like anhydrite, which can be utilized in concrete manufacturing.
