Coaching a team with mixed skill levels often requires creative tactical adjustments. When you have a player who is still building confidence or basic mechanics, smart positioning allows them to contribute without placing unnecessary pressure on the team's defensive structure.

A simple and effective tactic is placing the player just inside your side of the halfway line. Rather than having them chase the ball across the entire pitch, instruct them to move laterally from side to side across the middle corridor. Give them two clear boundaries: never cross the halfway line into the opponent's half, and do not drop deeper than the edge of the center circle toward your own goal.

This strict zone offers several major advantages. Staying on your side of the field completely prevents them from being caught offside during an attack. Meanwhile, keeping them away from your penalty area reduces the risk of dangerous turnovers right in front of your goalkeeper. From this central, contained area, the player can provide simple support passes while stronger teammates handle high-traffic defensive and offensive plays.
