When it comes to high-level disinfection (HLD), especially in healthcare settings, choosing the right chemical agent is critical to ensure patient safety and infection control. Among the various options available, glutaraldehyde stands out as one of the most widely recommended disinfectants for this purpose.
Glutaraldehyde has been used for decades in medical facilities due to its proven effectiveness against a broad spectrum of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and even bacterial spores—making it ideal for high-level disinfection. It’s commonly used to disinfect heat-sensitive medical instruments such as endoscopes, where sterilization via heat isn’t feasible.
