Microplastics Found in Human Organs – Liver Most Affected
A groundbreaking study revealed that microplastics (MPs) are present in every major human organ examined, with the highest concentrations detected in the liver, small intestine, and kidneys. These findings, published in early 2026, confirm that plastic pollution isn't just an environmental crisis—it’s now deeply embedded in our bodies.
Researchers analyzed tissue samples from seven organs and found MPs in all of them, underscoring how pervasive these tiny particles have become. The liver emerged as the most contaminated, likely due to its role in filtering blood and processing toxins. The small intestine and kidneys followed closely, which makes sense given their functions in digestion and waste filtration.
