Emma Watson handed U.K. Driving ban following speeding incident
Famous actress Emma Watson found herself in a spot of trouble with U.K. authorities after being handed a six-month driving ban. The penalty came down on July 16, 2025, following a speeding incident that occurred the previous summer in July 2024.
According to reports from BBC News, the star was caught driving her vehicle over the limit in a residential zone. While a minor traffic infraction on its own might only mean a small fine, the situation was complicated by Watson's driving record. The court noted that she had already accumulated nine penalty points on her license prior to this violation. Exceeding the threshold triggered the temporary suspension under the U.K.'s point system.
The case was handled at the High Wycombe Magistrates' Court, where Watson was also ordered to pay a total fine of ยฃ1,044 (approx. $1,396). The actress did not personally attend the brief hearing. With her license now out of commission for half a year, the star will need to find alternative ways to get around while focusing on her ongoing studies and projects.
