Why Can’t I Delete My Google Review?

It’s a common frustration: you leave a review on Google, then change your mind, only to find yourself stuck, wondering why Google won’t let you delete it. The truth is, Google does allow you to remove your own reviews—but only if you know where to look and are logged into the right account.

If your review isn’t disappearing, the first thing to check is whether you're signed into the correct Google account. It’s easy to mix up personal and work accounts, especially if you use multiple emails. Once you’ve confirmed your login, head to Google Maps Contributions. Click on the “Reviews” tab, locate the review in question, and look for the three vertical dots next to it. Click, and you should see the option to delete.

Sometimes, the desktop version doesn’t cooperate. In those cases, try using the Google Maps app on your phone. The interface can be more responsive, and the delete option may appear more readily. Open the app, go to your profile, tap on “Your contributions,” find the review, and tap the three dots to remove it.

It’s worth noting that Google doesn’t let you edit a review once posted—only delete and rewrite. So if you just want to make a small change, deletion might feel like overkill. But it’s the only way.

One caveat: if the business has responded to your review, the response will remain visible even after you delete your part. That’s normal—Google preserves the conversation thread.

So yes, you *can* delete your Google review. It’s just a matter of being in the right place, logged into the right account, and using the right device. Once you find the right path, it takes seconds.
