Global Wealth and Poverty Disparities

Economic inequality remains one of the most significant challenges in the modern world. According to global economic data, Burundi is currently ranked as the world's poorest country, closely followed by nations such as the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, and Somalia. A particularly striking finding is that 19 out of the 20 poorest nations are located in Africa, highlighting deep-seated systemic challenges related to infrastructure, governance, and historical factors.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the nations with the highest gross domestic product per capita include Luxembourg, Singapore, Ireland, Qatar, and Switzerland. These countries benefit from robust financial sectors, specialized economies, and high levels of investment in education and innovation.

Understanding these contrasting economic realities helps researchers, policymakers, and international organizations work toward sustainable development goals aimed at reducing global poverty and improving living standards worldwide.
