Understanding Infant Constipation and Hydration
Watching your little one struggle can be stressful, but infant tummy troubles are very common. If you suspect your baby is constipated, the first step is to look closely at their daily intake. Always make sure your baby is getting enough fluids from their usual breast milk or formula milk, as this is their primary source of nutrition and hydration.
If you notice that your baby has fewer wet nappies than usual, you can offer them a small amount of extra cooled boiled water between their normal feeds. Keep in mind that this approach is only suitable if they have not started to eat solid food yet.
Every baby is unique, and their digestive systems are still developing. If constipation persists, or if you notice other symptoms like distress or changes in feeding habits, it is always best to reach out to your health visitor, GP, or pediatrician for tailored advice and peace of mind.
