Why Water Is Called the "Universal Solvent"
It might seem simple, but water has a remarkable superpower: its ability to dissolve more substances than any other liquid on Earth. This is why scientists often call it the "universal solvent". When water comes into contact with minerals, salts, gases, or even organic matter, it often breaks them down at the molecular level, pulling them into solution.
