Calling a Toll-Free number from your mobile phone

Wondering how to reach a 1-800 number using your cell phone? It is actually just as simple as dialing any regular contact, but there is one crucial detail to keep in mind.

To connect successfully, you just need to dial 1 first, followed immediately by the appropriate toll-free prefix and the rest of the digits. Keep in mind that these prefixes—such as 800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, and 888—are entirely unique and not interchangeable. If you dial the wrong prefix code, your call won't go through to the right place.

While standard toll-free numbers are generally free to call from landlines, keep in mind that calling them from a mobile phone will still use your regular cell plan's voice minutes unless your carrier specifies otherwise.
