How to Remove E. coli from Water Naturally
When it comes to ensuring your drinking water is safe from harmful bacteria like Escherichia coli, boiling is one of the most effective and accessible methods—especially when you don't have access to clean bottled water. According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2015), bringing water to a rolling boil for at least one minute is sufficient to kill not only E. coli but also other dangerous pathogens such as viruses, bacteria, and protozoa.
But before you boil, consider the quality of the water you're treating. If it's cloudy or contains visible sediment, it's best to let it settle first. Then, pour it through a clean cloth, paper towel, or even a coffee filter to remove particles.
