Is Colgate a French Brand?

When shopping for everyday essentials, it is easy to assume that major household names belong to your home country or somewhere in Europe. However, a brand as ubiquitous as Colgate is actually deeply rooted in the United States.

The company behind the famous toothpaste is the Colgate-Palmolive Company, a massive American multinational consumer products corporation. Rather than originating in France or anywhere else in Europe, its headquarters are located right on Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

Colgate's history stretches back far beyond modern global conglomerates. It was originally founded in New York City way back in 1806 by William Colgate, starting out as a starch, soap, and candle business before eventually evolving into the oral care giant recognized worldwide today.
