Despite their advanced technology, iPhones don’t come equipped with a dedicated humidity sensor. This means your device can't directly measure the moisture level in the air around it. Unlike some smartwatches or environmental monitoring gadgets, Apple has chosen not to include this type of sensor in its iPhone lineup—for now.

However, iPhones aren’t completely blind when it comes to environmental conditions. They do include a barometer that measures atmospheric pressure, and some models may detect temperature changes indirectly—primarily to monitor internal device health and prevent overheating. Still, none of these sensors are designed to give you a readout on relative humidity.

That said, you can still check humidity levels using your iPhone—just not natively. There are plenty of third-party weather apps available that pull data from external sources like nearby weather stations or online services. When you check the humidity in your favorite weather app, you're seeing information gathered remotely, not from a sensor inside your phone.

Additionally, Apple has built in a feature called "Liquid Detection" in newer models, which uses the Lightning port to detect moisture and warn you before charging. While this isn’t a full humidity sensor, it shows Apple’s awareness of moisture-related issues.

So while your iPhone won’t tell you if the air is dry or muggy on its own, you’re only a tap away from that info through apps and services. For most users, that’s more than enough. But if you're tracking indoor air quality closely, you might still want to invest in a standalone hygrometer.
