How to Stop Sharing Your Location With Someone

If you're wondering how to stop your wife from tracking your phone, you're not alone. Many people share their location with partners for convenience, but sometimes that changes—and that's okay. The good news is, stopping location sharing is simple and can be done in just a few taps.

Most smartphones use Google’s Location Sharing feature if they’re Android devices, or Find My for iPhones. On Android, open the Settings app, then head to Google, followed by Location Sharing. From there, you’ll see a list of people you’re currently sharing your location with. Tap on your wife’s name, then select “Stop Sharing.” Just like that, she’ll no longer see your real-time location.

For iPhone users, the process is similar. Open the Find My app, go to the People tab, find her name, and tap “Stop Sharing My Location.” You’ll have the option to notify her or stay silent—choose what feels right for your situation.

It’s important to remember that location tracking often starts with trust and mutual agreement. If you’re reconsidering that, it might be worth having an honest conversation about boundaries and privacy. While technology makes sharing easy, it doesn’t mean you’re obligated to do it forever.

Ultimately, your phone is your personal space. Whether you’re ending location sharing for peace of mind, personal reasons, or simply wanting more privacy, you have the right to control who sees what. And doing it calmly and respectfully—both technically and emotionally—makes all the difference.
