Is Upgrading on Singapore Airlines Worth It?
Deciding whether to take the plunge and upgrade from standard economy to premium economy on Singapore Airlines comes down to what you value most during your flight—especially on long-haul routes. Singapore Airlines Premium Economy bridges the gap between regular coach and business class, though frequent flyers often note that the experience leans much closer to economy.
When you step up to premium economy, the most noticeable change is the physical space. You will get a larger seat with significantly more legroom and recline, making it much easier to catch some sleep on an overnight journey. Entertainment gets a nice boost, too; passengers are treated to a larger touchscreen monitor paired with comfortable noise-cancelling headphones instead of the basic earbuds handed out in the main cabin.
However, keep your expectations grounded. While the seat and tech upgrades are fantastic for comfort, the overall service, food, and boarding process remain relatively close to the standard economy experience rather than the luxury of business class. If extra breathing room and better audio gear are high on your priority list, the upgrade is well worth considering. If you are mainly looking for gourmet dining or lie-flat beds, you might want to save your money or look toward business class instead.
