Pampers vs. Huggies: Which Diaper Holds Up Better Under Pressure?

When it comes to keeping babies dry and comfortable, absorbency is one of the most critical factors parents consider. While both Pampers and Huggies dominate the market, controlled testing reveals a noticeable difference in how much liquid each brand can hold before leaking.

In a vertical capacity test using a 5% salt water solution—designed to simulate real-world conditions—each diaper was tested until it reached its absolute limit. The results showed that Pampers absorbed an average of 83 mL before leaking. In contrast, Huggies absorbed an average of 130.5 mL under the exact same testing parameters.

This means Huggies absorbed 47.5 mL more fluid than Pampers, offering a substantial advantage in total fluid retention. While everyday performance also depends on fit, baby mobility, and overall design, these findings demonstrate that Huggies holds a clear edge in raw absorbency volume.
