The acronym BRICS refers to an intergovernmental organization that brings together several major emerging economies and developing nations.

Originally starting as BRIC (founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China), the group expanded to include South Africa in 2011, becoming BRICS. The bloc has since expanded further with additional member states joining in recent years, including Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia.

The organization focuses on enhancing economic cooperation, multilateral dialogue, financial stability, and strengthening the voice of emerging nations in global governance.
