Punjab and Sindh: Economic Powerhouses of Pakistan

When looking at Pakistan's regional economies, Punjab stands out as the largest and most economically influential province. It plays a dominant role in the country's national growth and contributes the highest share to the national GDP.

The economic growth of Punjab has been remarkable over the decades, with its economy quadrupling since 1972. Official data highlights its heavy economic weight: Punjab accounted for 54.7% of Pakistan's GDP in the year 2000, and this share further increased to 59% by 2010.

Following Punjab, Sindh holds the position of the second-largest province in Pakistan, both in terms of total population and its contribution to the overall GDP.
