Managing Negative Google Reviews

Dealing with a harsh review on your business profile can feel frustrating, but it is a challenge every owner faces eventually. While you cannot simply delete feedback just because it hurts your feelings or drops your rating, you do have options if the comment crosses a line.

Google has clear content policies regarding what is permitted online. If a reviewer posts spam, uses hate speech, shares fake experiences, or includes inappropriate personal information, that feedback is eligible for removal. To challenge it, you need to use the flagging tool directly on your business dashboard.

When reporting a review, be specific about which guideline it violates rather than just marking it as unhelpful. Keep in mind that moderation takes time, and Google will not remove a review simply because it is negative or comes from an unhappy customer. If the review stays up, the best approach is to respond professionally, show empathy, and address the customer's concerns publicly to demonstrate great service to future readers.
